“Marla Schappia”, former Secretary of State for the Social and Economical Solidarity, and fervent feminist, is on the cover of Playboy magazine vs Sylvie T., worker who can't make ends meet, two children and a husband to support

Interview

- Journalist: In addition to having been Secretary of State responsible for the Social and Solidarity Economy, you were also previously Secretary of State responsible for Equality between women and men and the fight against discrimination.
You were probably expecting some harsh criticism regarding your scantily clad appearance in the charming journal.
Why did you do it?
- "Marla Schappia": Society evolves, women too and I wanted to talk about women's freedom but also feminism and literature.
Why this particular magazine?
To show that women are free to do what they want, even as political figures. That asserting yourself as a Woman in a charming magazine to talk about feminism and the fight against violence against women, broadens the cultural horizon of the readers of this magazine.
Besides, this magazine is not so much misogynist or sexist if it publishes a feminist.
- J.: Beyond feminism, those responsible for the magazine saw a minister who could increase their sales.
100,000 copies were sold in a few hours.
Against 30,000 on average per month.
- MS: I disagree. It's not just the profit of one side. If my words were able to convince and open the eyes of certain readers about the current situation of women in our country, it is also beneficial in relation to the commitments that are mine.

- J.: Some of your detractors speak of “interference in government communication in the midst of a social crisis on pensions”.
Explaining that it was a communicative attempt by the government to look away from the 49/3 applied to the question of pensions.
49/3 being this tool available to the president to apply the laws he wants if the majority does not agree.

- MS: You know how it is.
The political opposition will always find a pretext to try to undermine the government in power.
- J.: Your detractors do not only come from the opposition. The executive and certain members of your party are also part of it.
One of your colleagues actually thought it was an early April Fool's joke.
- MS: Yes, I saw that. My avant-garde and mainly disruptive action could have been confused and not well understood.
In his aims, I hear.
And then, once again, I defend the right of women to do exactly what they want. And I'm a woman, so...
- J.: Now let's talk about your news. You are now a full-time writer.
What do you like to write about and above all, what is your next book?
- MS: I write about almost everything but the books I publish are about erotic stories. One of my colleagues, the Minister of the Economy, also publishes erotic books. Of course, these books were published under my pen name "Marie M.", when I was in government.
Regarding my next book. Like everyone else, I am absolutely horrified by what is happening in Ukraine. I went there to see what the situation of women was during the war. And I was struck by the strength of resilience these women had.

So I decided to write a book which will be published soon, dealing with women's sexuality in times of war, as being a possible solution against war.

And I especially want to insist on the fact that the French must help Ukraine. We must be able to help them economically and morally. I think that this aid is one of France's priorities today.

- - -

- Journalist: You are a worker, working in one of the most prestigious French automobile companies.
- Sylvie T.: ... which will close next month for relocation to China. Should also add that in the interview.
- J.: What do you think of the government's management of pensions a few months ago?
- ST: What do you want me to think about it other than that it's intolerable. For the rest of us, of course. Those who decide in government do not understand the physical and mental distress in which we are. The jobs we do are hard and grueling. And they ask us to work more... to suffer more? Between workers, we don't talk about it... it's taboo. Because it serves no purpose except to end up applying for unemployment.
You know, one day, we finished on time but the boss asked us to finish 5 cars. It only takes 15 minutes.
We did it.
The next day, we finished 10 minutes before the end of our shift.
This same boss tells us to finish 10 cars to benefit from it.
We thought we could leave before.
We felt disrespected and above all, we were not going to be paid for the overtime we had worked.
And that’s where I realized the value of time.
- J.: What future do you see for yourself?

- ST: The future? I know the future since I spend my life at work, have two children and an alcoholic husband who is unemployed and who hits me and rapes me.
This is the future, more or less, for a lot of us if the government continues to do the stupid things it is doing.

I'll tell you something: the yellow vests were the tip of the iceberg.
Tomorrow, don't be surprised if the government becomes the Titanic.
